FIRE BEAT: KCK firefighter injured in home fire
Posted by Nick Sloan on November 16, 2009 - 10:53am
A house fire at 2811 S. 28th Street injured one firefighter and caused $30,000 in damage Saturday afternoon.
The Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department responded to the fire just after 2 p.m. on Saturday. One firefighter of 25 was injured in the structure fire, which remains under investigation.
The firefighter was transported to a local hospital for treatment and has since made a full recovery.
"Crews on the scene within five minutes reported heavy smoke coming from the eaves of a one story wood frame structure and indicated that all occupants were out of the structure," said Craig Duke, spokesperson for the department. "Firefighters were hampered by accumulation of household goods and other products throughout the structure."
