Noon weather update: Snow predictions lowered
The latest forecast from the National Weather Service has lowered its predicted snow totals for Wyandotte County.
The forecast still includes snow accumulation, but it's been lowered from 4-6 inches to 1-3 inches of snow.
Along with the snow, sleet and wetness of streets, bitterly cold weather is expected to enter the area beginning tonight.
This Afternoon: Snow, freezing rain, and sleet. High near 33. East wind between 7 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime ice accumulation of around a 0.1 of an inch possible. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of around an inch possible.
Tonight: Snow before midnight, then snow likely and widespread blowing snow after midnight. Low around 14. Wind chill values between -6 and 4. Blustery, with a north northwest wind 9 to 12 mph increasing to between 23 and 26 mph. Winds could gust as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Wednesday: Areas of blowing snow before noon. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 16. Wind chill values between -1 and -7. Blustery, with a west northwest wind between 16 and 24 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.
Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 4. Wind chill values between -3 and -8. West wind between 8 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.
