Rogers family looking to get America's Most Wanted on the case
A Kansas City, Kan., murder that has received state attention may receive national attention.
Jeff Rogers, a KCK resident, was murdered on April 9, 2008, at his home on the 8400 Block of Tauromee. Since his murder, family members have worked exhaustively in any way to solve the case.
They've increased award money, bought billboards and were able to have Kansas Gov. Mark Parkinson pitch in award money from the State of Kansas.
Now, they are hoping to get America's Most Wanted involved in the matter.
John Frishman, Rogers' uncle, spoke to The Kansan a little bit about the family's effort today.
"We're in the process of communicating with them," he said. "With information we've received in the past few days, we think there is a good shot."
Rogers called police after he was shot and stabbed in his home. He told police officers at the scene that "four of five white males" had broken in the home and beat, shot and stabbed him.
After he was taken to an area hospital, he died.
While the case remains unsolved and some family members feel local efforts "have been exhausted," the desire to get the case on the show doesn't necessarily reflect the situation with the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department.
"We're both on the good side, but we want to do anything we can for more awareness," he said.
