Wyandot Center announces additions of Bynum, Wiebe
Two former journalists who covered Wyandotte County have joined the Wyandot Center's staff.
Melissa Bynum has been announced as the Center's new director of community relations and Mark Wiebe is the new public affairs director.
Bynum, originally of Wyandotte County, was the editor and publisher of the Wyandotte West newspapers and previously served with the Wyandotte County Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Women's Chamber of Commerce, the Kansas City, Kan., West Kiwanis Club and Shepherd's Center.
She graduated from Kansas State University.
“It’s a role I’ve played with any and all of the organizations with which I’ve been affiliated,” she said. “I bring a lot of community connections with me. This feels like a win-win for the Center and for me.”
Wiebe, a Kansas City native, worked for 14 years covering Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties for The Kansas City Star.
He is graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas and received his master's degree from Southern Illinois University.
“I’m really excited about telling the Center’s story to the larger public,” he said.
