Men who operated drug trafficking ring in KCK sentenced
Secundino Aria-Garcia and Sergio Mosqueda-Hernandez were sentenced today for their involvement in a drug trafficking ring that resulted in the sell of over $1 million in methamphetamine.
Both pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Aria-Garcia also admitted to purchasing the drug in large quantities and later sold it to dealers in the Kansas City area.
Aria-Garcia was sentenced to 210 months in prison, while Mosqueda-Hernandez was senteced to 121 months. Both will serve the time in federal prison.

POLICE BEAT: KCK police seize 50 grams in marijuana
Kansas City, Kan., police officers discovered over 50 grams of marijuana on someone at N. 27th Street and Brown Avenue.
The bust was made on Monday night in the area at about 5:30 p.m., when police reported to the area. The scene of the crime was cleared an hour later.

COURT: KCK man charged with marijuana distribution case
A Kansas City, Kan., man was charged Friday with a number of charges related to distributing marijuana.
Brian Singleton was charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a user of controlled substances, one count of unlawful possession of a sawed-off shotgun, and one count of maintaining a residence in furtherance of drug trafficking.
His crimes were allegedly occurred on Jan. 27 in KCK. Singleton allegedly used a home on the 400 Block of 82nd Street in KCK to help with his drug trafficking.
Singleton could face a number of sentences if he's convicted – the most severe ranging from five years to life in prison.
The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated.

COURT: KCK man charged in meth case
John Maxwell of Kansas City, Kan., has been charged in connection to another case of methamphetamine distribution.
Maxwell was charged with two counts of distributing methamphetamine, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a user of controlled substances and one count of maintaining a premise in furtherance of drug trafficking.
Maxwell is charged with the crimes that allegedly occurred on Jan. 28, 2010, in Wyandotte County.
He could face up to life in prison on the firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking charge. Fines up to $2 million could be paid.
Other sentences for the lesser charges could also be handed down.
The case was investigated by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

COURT: KCK men charged with meth distribution
Kansas City, Kan., residents Adrian Mata-Rodriguez and Javier Ponce-Acedo (pictured) were charged with multiple counts related to the distribution of methamphetamine.
They were each charged with one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, one count of maintaining a residence in furtherance of drug trafficking, one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and one count of possession of a firearm by an illegal alien.
The crimes the two are charged with allegedly occurred in Wyandotte County from November 2007 to February 2010.
Along with the drug charges, Matt-Rodriguez was charged with one count of distributing methamphetamine and one count of unlawfully re-entering the country after previously being deported.
Different penalties could be given to each defendant based on all the charges.
The most serious penalty comes with the conspiracy charge – both could face between 10 years to life in prison and a fine up to $4 million.

POLICE BEAT: KCKPD seizes 1,200 grams of marijuana
One of the larger ordinary marijuana busts happened on Friday night in Kansas City, Kan.
On Feb. 12, police arrest a person who was selling marijuana. On the suspect was 1,208.5 grams of marijuana, or two pounds and 10.6 ounces.
Also on the suspect was $1,202 in cash.
Police busted the event after 1 p.m. last Friday on the 1700 Block of Haskell. The person had made deals in the area since January.
A Kansas City, Kan., police report indicates there was an intent to sell the marijuana when police officers arrived at the scene.

POLICE BEAT: Two large drug busts made
Kansas City, Kan., police recently seized over 100 grams of drugs in two separate incidents.
• Police found 115 grams of marijuana on someone on 14th and Central Avenue on Jan. 30. Police also discovered a "wood pipe" on the suspect. The suspect was picked up at about 5:30 on Jan. 30.
• Police discovered over 122 grams of methamphetamine on the 4600 Block of Greeley Avenue. The person who was picked up was selling the drug. The drugs were discovered on Feb. 3. The suspect had been selling it in the area since Jan. 30.

COURT BEAT: KCK men charged with distributing methamphetamine
Two Kansas City, Kan., men have been charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
Javier Ruiz-Barraza and Francisco Lubio were charged today in a Kansas City, Kan., court.
The alleged crime occurred in Wyandotte County on Jan. 6, 2010. Both could face between 5-40 years in federal prison and a $2 million fine if they are convicted.
The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department investigated the case.
POLICE BEAT: Bust nets 1.75 pounds of cocaine
A drug bust last week on 13th and Ann Avenue in Kansas City, Kan., resulted in the seizure of 795 grams of cocaine, or about 1.75 pounds.
The bust was made on Jan. 12 just after 4 p.m., with the crime starting at around 3 p.m. the same day.
The person who was apprehended was found selling the drug in the area. No force was used by the dealer or required by police at the scene.

COURT BEAT: KCK man charged with manufacturing marijuana plants
Bruce M. Jones of Kansas City, Kan., has been charged with manufacturing at least 100 marijuana plants, using firearms during a drug trafficking crime and being a felon in possession of firearms.
All the alleged crimes occurred on Dec. 15 of last year.
He could face 40 years of prison for the marijuana charge and additional years for the lesser chages.
COURT BEAT: KCK man charged with conspiracy to distribute drugs
A Kansas City, Kan., man has been charged with multiple counts related to distributing drugs.
Jeffrey Lichtenberger was charged in a KCK court today with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine from Oct. 1, 2008 –Jan. 31, 2009; conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine from Oct. 1, 2008 – Sept.30, 2009; distributing cocaine on Nov. 12, 2008; distributing methamphetamine on Nov. 25, 2008; attempting to distribute and possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine on Jan. 12, 2009; distributing cocaine on July 6, 2009 and distributing cocaine on Sept. 18, 2009.
He faces a minimum of ten years in prison and a maximum of life in prison if convicted of the charge of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and attempting to distribute methamphetamine.
He could face additional years for the other charges.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by U.S. Attorney Sheri McCracken.
POLICE BEAT: 203 grams of marijuana seized
Kansas City, Kan., police discovered about 203 grams of marijuana on a person picked up on the 1500 Block of Minnesota Avenue Tuesday morning.
Along with the marijuana, one gram of methamphetamine and a marijuana blunt were also found.
Police found the drugs just after 1 a.m. on Tuesday.

COURT BEAT: Man charged with an abundance of crimes
Kansas City, Kan., resident Bruce Jones was charged today on several alleged crimes ranging from drugs to assault.
He was charged today with two counts of aggravated assault, cultivation of marijuana; criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance without a tax stamp and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The charges stem from an incident Dec. 16 after troopers from the Missouri Highway Patrol were threatened at gunpoint near the 1100 Block of Metropolitan in KCK.
He is currently in custody of the Wyandotte County Sheriff's office in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
COURT BEAT: KCK mean sentenced to life in prison for drug trafficking
A Kansas City, Kan., man has been sentenced to life in prison for trafficking methamphetamine.
Jaun Mata-Soto, 23, was sentenced in a KCK court.
On Nov. 6, 2008, he was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase. He pleaded guilty on one court of conspiracy to distribute the drug. He admitted to be part of the trafficking organization during 2007 and 2008.
Other co-defendants in the case:
Martin Arrendondo-Valenzuela, who was sentenced to 360 months.
Omar Castro-Bojorquez, who was sentenced to 168 months.
Jose Lopez-Lugo, who was sentenced to 151 months.
Azucena Alvarado-Martinez, who is set for sentencing Dec. 28, 2009.

Ramon Manuel Romero-Gomez, who was sentenced to 135 months.

COURT BEAT: Man who trafficked drugs in KCK sentenced
A Kansas City, Mo., who distributed cocaine and marijuana in Kansas City, Kan., has been sentenced to 235 months of federal prison.
Kevin Chism pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and marijuana, one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and one count of using a telephone to traffic drugs.
He admitted to being involved in a drug trafficking organization that distributed thousands of pounds of marijuana and hundreds of kilograms of coke in 2006 and 2007.
The drugs were smuggled into KCK from Mexico.
A home in Kansas City, Mo., was used to help traffic and distribute the drugs. The sentencing was made in a KCK court today.
Chism was involved in a drug ring that generated $13 million across the Kansas City metro area. It employed 22 people. The drug bust was made by law enforcement in 2007.
